GUIDING THE TRANSITION: A MESSAGE FROM THE
CHAIRPERSON

The year 2026 marks a defining moment in the continued evolution of the South African National Energy
Development Institute, reflecting both renewal and consolidation as we deepen our role at the centre of South
Africa’s energy transition. It is with a strong sense of purpose and responsibility that I address you in this edition of
our newsletter, following a period of significant institutional activity, strategic alignment, and leadership transition.

At the core of this progress was the Board Induction Engagement held on 26 January 2026, which brought together
new and continuing Board members with Management to reinforce a shared understanding of SANEDI’s mandate
under the National Energy Act. This session was not merely procedural; it was foundational. It ensured that the newly
constituted SANEDI Board is fully aligned with the organisation’s strategic direction, governance responsibilities, and
the growing expectations placed upon SANEDI as a national technical partner. I am confident that this Board,
strengthened by a blend of experience, continuity, and fresh perspectives, is well-positioned to provide robust
oversight and guide SANEDI into its next phase of impact and growth.
