The Digitalisation programme was initiated to provide a mechanism for energy modelling and planning to support the alignment of national and local government energy objectives.
Digitalisation aims to provide a data-driven platform, where national and local government decision-makers collaborate in addressing the objectives of the South African Integrated Energy Plan (IEP) and National Climate Change Response Strategy (NCCRS).
A few of the focal areas for Digitalisation are to collect energy related data, maintain an open central database for energy research, develop suitable models for the South African Energy system and develop a technical know-how, knowledge and human capacity in energy modelling and planning.
The vision of the Digitalisation programme is to be a relevant knowledge asset for the energy industry and to support and inform high-confidence energy planning, decision-making and policy development throughout the energy sector.
