SANEDI seeks to appoint Head: Energy Secretariat. The purpose of this position is to manage the implementation of the various low carbon energy research, development and innovation (RDI) flagship programmes on behalf of the Department of Science and Innovation (DSI). This includes the implementation of the Energy Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) Plan, the Hydrogen South Africa Programme, the Renewable Energy Hub and Spokes Programme, Coal CO2 to X RDI Programme and the Energy Storage RDI Programme. In addition, the Head of the Energy Secretariat will support the implementation of the innovation and skills component of the Hydrogen Society Roadmap (HSRM) as well as support the HSRM catalytic projects, for example the Platinum Valley Initiative, through the mobilisation of resources and creation of partnerships across the public and private sectors, academia and civil society..

Qualifications:
  • A Doctorate in science or engineering. Any of the following qualifications will be an added advantage:
  • Master’s in Technology Management
  • Master’s in Business Management; or
  • Master’s in project management.

  • Minimum of ten years in energy research, development and innovation or engineering-related working experience relevant to the energy sector.
  • 3 to 5 years in techno-economic analysis that informs decision-making in the energy policy environment.,
  • 3 to 5 years in the technology commercialisation space.
  • 3 to 5 years in the coordination of multi-stakeholder energy related projects at international or regional levels.
  • 3 to 5 years’ experience in leveraging and raising funds to support energy research, development and innovation projects.
